Xbox Live TDS Telecom cannot join friends on same ISP

Ok so this isn't really a frequently asked question but it is such a strange one it is worth putting up in the hope a search engine picks up on it and it saves someone pain.

If you use TDS Telecom for your Xbox Live gaming and want to play against friends using the same ISP you are in for disappointment I'm afraid.

To date I've seen two people complain that this is not possible, you can see here that the customer has been told it is not permitted and the exact same issue here open NAT but cannot join their friends that are using the same ISP.

It is very unusual to see if every ISP did this there wouldn't be many people to play against, thankfully it isn't the case. I'm not sure why TDS do this but it is something to be aware of and there is nothing you can do about it yourself in terms of router settings, whatever the restriction is it exists within the ISP's network.
