A Broadband Connection
A Broadband connection (landline Cable, ADSL, VDSL or FTTP preferred). Microsoft now recommend 3Mbps download 5Mbps upload, however I know many users in the UK still game on 0.5Mbps downstream, 0.125Mbps upstream. 2Mbps down/1Mbps up or above would be my ideal recommendation.
Xbox Live does not use massive amounts of downstream bandwidth , the more upstream/upload you have the more players you can host if you are the host
A connection from your Xbox to your Broadband Router

| Con's - None really, although if your Xbox is sited far from the router running a long Ethernet cable could be unsightly unless done neatly. | Con's - Quite expensive and if not set-up correctly could affect gameplay, although wireless interference issues can usually be solved. | Con's -None | Con's - Requires the PC/Laptop to be powered up while you are gaming | Con's - Homeplugs work best when connected into a power socket of its own, generally do not like to be connected to surge protected extension sockets |
